Batavia home left uninhabitable after early Monday morning fire
No injuries were reported in a fire that officials say was likely sparked by a faulty electrical outlet at a Batavia house early Monday.
Electricity to the home was shut off pending the outcome of the investigation, rendering the house uninhabitable for the time being.
Firefighters were dispatched to the single-family residence on the 500 block of McKinley Street just after 7 a.m. when a resident called 911.
The fire was contained to the area around the outlet in a second-floor bedroom, fire officials said.
Damage was estimated at $10,000.
