North Aurora man charged in connection with child sex sting
A North Aurora man is facing multiple felonies stemming from a child sex sting operation conducted by the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Investigators arrested 63-year-old Gregory White Monday when he arrived at a location believing he was going to meet a 16-year-old.
According to a press release from Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart’s office, White had actually been communicating with an undercover officer from the department’s special victims unit via text for several days, sending sexually explicit messages.
White also requested and sent sexually explicit photos and videos. He ultimately made arrangements to meet the person he believed was a teen “with the intent to engage in sexual acts,” the release stated.
Upon his arrest, investigators noted White admitted his plans after being read his Miranda rights.
White is charged with attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a minor and manufacturing harmful material.
He was granted pretrial release Tuesday.
His next court date is March 14 at the Bridgeview courthouse.
