Man accused of pointing gun at vehicles passing by St. Charles bar
A man has been accused of pointing a handgun at vehicles passing a bar Saturday morning in St. Charles.
Dalton T. Geni, 23, of the 5N700 block of Tanager Court in Campton Township, is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault using a deadly weapon and aggravated assault, according to a news release from St. Charles police.
Police said they responded to a bar on the 0-99 block of North Third Street at 12:21 a.m. A worker told police they saw a man pull a gun from his waistband, turn on a weapon-mounted flashlight and point the gun at vehicles passing by.
He then stood up from the table and, while still holding the gun, walked behind the bar where the worker was still on the phone with dispatchers.
The man then left the business. Officers already in the area on foot, doing regular checks of bars, stopped Geni as he was leaving the bar.
Police reported finding a loaded handgun in his waistband.
Geni had a valid Illinois firearm owners identification card and a concealed carry license. But, according to police, it is illegal to carry a gun in any place that sells alcohol.
Geni has a March 20 court date.
