St. Patrick’s Day celebrations return to Durty Nellie’s March 15

On Saturday, March 15, Durty Nellie’s, at 180 N. Smith St. in downtown Palatine, will host its 15th annual Durty St. Pat’s Celebration, bringing all the festive fun and shenanigans that have made it a crowd favorite for thousands across the suburbs since 2011. The fun starts with the Traditional Irish Breakfast at Durty Nellie’s from 8:30-10:30 a.m., followed by the parade that steps off at 11 a.m., and ends at Durty Nellie’s for the legendary after party.

Presented by Durty Nellie’s — a premier entertainment hub, restaurant, Irish pub and event destination — in partnership with communications firm Vicarious Multimedia, this celebration promises a day filled with Irish-themed fun.

There are many ways to get involved: businesses and organizations can sponsor this family-friendly event (visit DurtyStPats.com/#sponsor) or participate in the parade, and nominations are now being sought for the Durty St. Pat’s Parade Queen, King and Court, who will lead the parade and take part in kicking off the celebrations at the after party with a photo-op on the Durty Nellie’s stage. Nomination forms can be found at durtystpats.com.

“We’re thrilled to continue the tradition of this beloved event that marks the start of spring and brings our greater community members together for a day of celebration,” said James Dolezal, owner of Durty Nellie’s. “It’s a day filled with community, Irish culture and fun, and we can’t wait to see everyone come together.”

The Traditional Irish Breakfast includes rashers, bangers, eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, Irish soda bread, black pudding and hash browns, along with fruit and pastries. The cost is $25 per person. Irish drink specials will also be featured. Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased at durtystpats.com. Traditional Irish Breakfast guests can save receipts and present them for free admission (one per cover) on St. Patrick’s Day (Monday, March 17), to enjoy Irish food and entertainment starting at 3 p.m.

The parade begins at Wood and Oak Streets in downtown Palatine and proceeds west on Wood Street, leading back to Durty Nellie’s. Businesses, organizations and community groups who would like to join the parade can visit DurtyStPats.com/participate-in-the-parade to register.

The Durty St. Pat’s after party will showcase event sponsors along with fan favorites such as the Trinity Irish Dancers and Irish bagpipers, along with returning bands and first-time performers. An Irish-inspired menu will launch Wednesday, March 12 and be served through St. Patrick’s Day.

Residents from across the suburbs are invited to enjoy this celebration of Irish culture and the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. Learn more at DurtyStPats.com.
