We should change makeup of Senate

For the most part, the House of Representatives does it right. The number of house reps are based on the population in their respective states. The Senate does not. All states have two elected senators no matter what the population is.

This needs to change. In many cases, smaller populous states have two senators. Larger states also have two.

Most smaller state populations which are red can overrule larger states.

In some cases this is called “majority, led by the minority.”

The Senate needs to rework how members are elected. States with large populations, Illinois, California, New York among others, need to have a third senator or states such as Mississippi, Alabama, Wyoming, Idaho, Iowa, etc. need to be reduced by one or stay at two if larger states get one more senator.

Quite honestly it is the people’s responsibility to elect officials who work for them and not the president, whomever he or she may be. This needs to change.

For Illinois residents, write or call Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth to request to the Senate that this change needs be made.
