North Chicago man facing traffic and other charges after fleeing police
A North Chicago man is being held on traffic violations and other charges after fleeing Lake County sheriff’s deputies Thursday night.
Alantae E. Cole, 35, was the driver of a Chevy Impala that was flagged by a license plate reader about 9:40 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office news release.
A deputy near Greenwood Avenue and Sheridan Road in Waukegan received an alert for the Impala that recently had been associated with a law enforcement alert involving a home invasion, police said.
Cole had multiple outstanding arrest warrants including domestic battery, DUI, fleeing and eluding, violating an order of protection and obstructing identification, according to the release.
The Impala was seen leaving a gas station but Cole refused to pull over and led deputies on a pursuit on several streets in Waukegan, police said.
He fled on foot after reaching a dead end and was quickly apprehended.
Cole was charged with two counts of aggravated fleeing to elude, attempted possession of cocaine, DUI for alcohol and numerous traffic violations. He was being held at the Lake County jail pending a detention hearing Friday afternoon.
