BOMA/Suburban Chicago selects The Outreach House as 2025 Charity of the Year
BOMA/Suburban Chicago has named The Outreach House as its Charity of the Year for 2025. Originally partnered in 2024, the board of directors met and voted to support The Outreach House for another year.
“BOMA/Suburban Chicago is excited to renew our partnership with The Outreach House this year. Association members happily volunteered their time serving the community with The Outreach House in 2024,” said Suzanne Boryscka, board president. “Based on our members’ desire to continue supporting The Outreach House, both through volunteer opportunities and donations, the BOMA/Suburban Chicago Board is pleased to again assist The Outreach House with their goal to provide compassionate and effective assistance within our community.”
The Outreach House’s mission is to provide compassionate and effective assistance to individuals and families in need with dignity and without judgment within the community. The Outreach House does this in a multipronged approach with programs such as the food pantry, Clothes Closet, First Things First and walk-in emergency assistance help.
On top of providing for their physical needs, The Outreach House partners with other local nonprofits to offer their guests access to additional resources such as CPR/first aid and cooking healthy meals with the food provided.
Since moving to a new location in 2022, the Outreach House has grown quickly to meet the needs of the community and is now serving over 1,000 families each month, including distributing over 20,000 diapers to families with young children each month. This is all only possible thanks to the support and partnership of local organizations and businesses.
On the partnership with BOMA/Suburban Chicago, Catherine Lynott, executive director of The Outreach House, said, “Through this partnership The Outreach House has benefited not only through volunteer support and donations, both financial and in-kind, but also through being able to build community and goodwill with so many local businesses we might not otherwise have been in a position to reach. We are so grateful to be selected for a second year as the Charity of the Year.”
BOMA/Suburban Chicago members helped The Outreach House in a variety of ways in 2024.
They brought a variety of needed items to BOMA’s Casino Night in February, followed by members bringing toiletries to EXPO as part of the “Big Hair, Don’t Care” 1980s theme! BOMA members also visited The Outreach House for a Day of Service in April where they were given a tour of the facility and then assisted with cleaning and reorganizing the food pantry.
Contributions in the form of winter coats were also accepted at the Oktoberfest and Holiday Awards Reception events where members generously brought more winter wear as well as monetary donations to help keep The Outreach House well stocked through the winter!
BOMA members also are bringing toiletries and other household goods to the Commercial Real Estate Expo on Thursday, Feb. 13, at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace.
