Downers Grove Rotary Club offers $20,000 in music scholarships
The Rotary Club of Downers Grove will award $20,000 in music scholarships this spring to high school seniors. Every year since 2009, the Rotary Club presents checks to deserving senior music students who live in Downers Grove or the District 99 attendance area.
Awards this year will include a grand award of at least $6,000 plus several additional cash awards of at least $2,000.
Rotary music scholarships are in memory of Charles Dickerman who was a founding member of the Downers Grove club. He was a nuclear physicist at Argonne National Laboratory and had undergraduate degrees in both physics and music. He stayed involved in music throughout his life and was an avid bagpiper.
