Aurora Black History Month event highlights businesses

Black-owned business were the focus of a Black History Month event that included food and entertainment Saturday at Fox Valley Mall in Aurora.

A variety of items were sold at the business booths, including clothing, jewelry, artwork and food.

“New Groove Revolution,” a music group based in Aurora, kicked off the onstage entertainment during the event, which was designed to raise cultural awareness.

“It’s to celebrate who we are and to recognize that while we are Americans, we have our own unique experience that we should be celebrating,” said event co-host Joseph Harvey.
