“I want our audience to know that no matter how little they are, they can do big things, reach for the stars and pursue their dreams of who they want to be,” says Efi Malliaras, who plays Miss Honey.

Featuring a company of 170 talented students, including a Children’s Choir of 14 local fourth- through eighth-graders, this moving production is sure to captivate audiences of all ages.

“Playing Matilda has challenged me to explore acting and singing,” said Emilaine Cordero, who plays the title role of Matilda. “It has also led me to create new friendships and experiences.”

This marks Grooms’ debut as the director of a musical at Maine East and she couldn’t be more excited to bring this magical and inspiring story to the stage.

“We’re thrilled to bring Matilda to life for our community,” Grooms said. “This show is truly a celebration of talent, creativity and the power of standing up for what’s right. I could not be more proud of the students in our company for their hard work, joy and collaboration.”
