Waukegan Park District celebrates Valentine’s Day

The Waukegan Park District is sharing the love for Valentine’s Day with several programs and events in February. The programming includes free and low-cost programs for children and adults. Registration is required for select programs.

The following Valentine’s Day-themed programs and events will be offered:

• Zumba Kids Jr.: Rockin’ Valentine’s From 6-6:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7. The energetic dance program will get children moving to the latest music hits while spreading the spirit of joy and love. Registration is required.

• Parent & Child Arts Park: Paper Heart Spinner from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 8. Parents and their children will make and decorate a heart that twirls in the air. Registration is required.

• Father-Daughter Date Night from 7-8:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8. This memorable event for fathers and their daughter(s) includes dessert, music, dancing, games, photos, and a surprise visit from a popular movie character. All daughters will receive a party favor and will have the opportunity to win prizes. Registration is required.

• Valentine’s Day Partner Workout from 7:05-8:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12. The heart-pumping workout will help couples burn calories while encouraging them to challenge each other to maintain healthy lifestyles with daily physical activity.

• Zumba Fitness Night from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. The free, family-friendly dance night will get participants moving with a fun, high-energy workout experience. Registration is not required.

• Couple’s Paint Challenge from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. The art night will challenge couples to paint a portrait of each other using a paintbrush and a canvas. Registration is required.

• Be My Valentine: Gift Making from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14. The hands-on craft night is an opportunity for participants to create a special flower bouquet, card and treat for their Valentine. Registration is required.

• Sweetheart Family Swim Night from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. The family swim night is an opportunity for families to enjoy a day at the indoor aquatics center. There will be space and time to make cards for special Valentines, enjoy snacks, and play water games with family and friends. Registration is not required.

• Parents’ Night Out from 5:30-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21. Parents can enjoy a date night while their children participate in open play, watch a movie, and engage in Valentine’s Day-themed activities and crafts. Registration is required.
