Volunteers sought to help students explore nature
Volunteers are sought for a science-based program encouraging Lake County students in second through fifth grades to explore nature in their communities by observing birds.
Volunteers will coordinate with teachers to schedule two classroom visits and a field trip to a local natural area. Instructors and field trip support are sought.
New volunteers must complete training, scheduled for March 5 at Volo Bog State Natural Area in Ingleside and a field trip tutorial March 19 at Rollins Savanna in Grayslake.
The program is a partnership of several organizations including the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Contact Stacy Iwanicki, dnr.volobog@illinois.gov or (815) 344-1294.
