Electrical issue blamed for fire at Lake Zurich bar

Lake Zurich Fire Department officials say fire late Sunday night that damaged a bar was likely sparked by an electrical issue in the basement.

Firefighters were alerted just after 10 p.m. by police who were responding to a burglar alarm at Scoreboard Bar & Grill, 84 N. Old Rand Road.

Once inside, firefighters encountered a fire in the basement storage area and quickly extinguished it.

No injuries were reported. According to its website, the bar closes at 9 p.m. on Sundays.

The building is temporarily uninhabitable, but a damage estimate was not immediately available. Officials said the damage was limited to the inside of the building.
