Metea Valley High Theater students direct original ‘Winter Scenes’
“Winter Scenes” is an opportunity for Metea Valley High School theater students to write, costume, design sets, design lighting, and direct their peers in short plays performed in the intimate setting of the Black Box Theater.
There are three “Scenes” in this year’s program:
• “The Boy and His Poems” (written and directed by Aditi Puntambekar and Alli Jacobson): A new kid in school seems to have the gift of poetry. He creates verse on the spot, and melts hearts with his prose. But, who is he, and where did he come from?
• “Slam Sensation” (written and directed by Nevaeh Maxey and Ciniyah Young): A panel of slam poetry contestants vie for the grand prize, $10,000! This play dives in to the rhyme and reason behind each contestant and their motivation.
• “The New Margo” (written by Stephen Gregg and directed by Loren Jones): It's only four days until classes of their freshman year begin, and Margo didn't come back to the dorm last night. When she does arrive, she seems like a whole new person. In fact, she very well maybe a different person.
The showtimes are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 13-14; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in the high school auditorium, 1801 N. Eola Road, Aurora.
General admission is $10 or $5 for student and seniors. Seats are not assigned, so preorder your tickets and arrive at least 15 minutes early.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.meteavalleytheater.org.
