No one hurt in Huntley house fire

A house fire Saturday afternoon in Huntley damaged a house and garage, but no injuries were reported, according to a news release from the Huntley Fire Protection District.

Firefighters were dispatched just after noon to the 12100 block of Ehorn Road for a reported garage fire. When they arrived on the scene six minutes later, firefighters observed smoke and fire showing from a single-story residential garage.

Firefighters extinguished the fire before it could extend into the living quarters. The damage was primarily contained to the garage, and the house sustained minor smoke damage but remains habitable.

The homeowner was home but unaware of the fire, according to firefighters. Construction workers in the area noticed the flames and attempted to extinguish the fire using buckets of water before firefighters arrived. Between their quick actions and the rapid response from firefighters, the house and its contents were saved.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District.
