Algonquin recognizes village businesses for contributions

The village of Algonquin recently announced the winners of the 2024 Algonquin Business Awards.

The program recognizes the exceptional accomplishments and contributions of local businesses that positively impact the community.

“It is an honor to celebrate the achievements of our local businesses,” Village President Debby Sosine said. “Recognizing their hard work is important because it demonstrates the value these businesses add to our community and highlights their role in making Algonquin a great place to live and work.”

This year’s program featured five award categories recognizing excellence in rehabilitation and improvement, architectural design, community economic impact, community service, and Project of the Year. The 2024 award winners are:

• Rehabilitation & Improvement Award — America’s Antique Mall, 2451 S. Randall Road, for converting a vacant commercial space into a venue hosting more than 500 vendors offering collectibles, furniture, homemade goods, and more.

• Architectural Design Award — Atomic Car Wash, 2241 E. Algonquin Road, for exemplary architectural design and use of materials.

• Community Economic Impact Award — CarMax, 2401 N. Huntington Drive, for significant contribution to the local economy and its positive impact on the community.

• Community Service Award — Downtown Algonquin Association, for its dedication and commitment to supporting and strengthening the business community in Old Town Algonquin.

• Project of the Year Award — Red Mountain Group, for its significant contributions to the Algonquin Commons, on the southwest corner of Randall Road and County Line Road, resulting in 97% occupancy and an estimated 5.6 million annual visits.

The awards ceremony was held Jan. 13 at Cucina Bella in Old Town Algonquin. During the reception, Sosine and the Economic Development Commission presented recipients with their awards.
