Kids Above All partners with Northeastern Illinois University

Chicago-area nonprofit, Kids Above All has announced its partnership with Northeastern Illinois University this semester. Students participating in the College of Business and Technology’s Social Media Marketing class will develop a social media plan and implement a persuasive social media campaign to target a wider audience utilizing the latest marketing techniques.

“Kids Above All recognizes the future of the nonprofit model lies in the hands of younger generations. The world is moving at a faster pace than ever before and staying on top of innovative messaging is key to continuing to do the amazing work we do every day here at KAA,” said Dan Kotowski, Kids Above All President and Chief Executive Officer.

The opportunity will give students real-life experience while identifying key marketing needs at Kids Above All. After initial assessments and identifying goals, students will be tasked with creating content on a platform of their choice.

“The College of Business and Technology is delighted to partner with Kids Above All and give our students an opportunity to help such a worthwhile organization. This gives our students the opportunity to apply their business skills in a way that has positive societal impact,” said Dr. Michael Bedell, Dean and Professor of Management and Marketing at NEIU.

Following a class visit from Dr. Garo Agopian to introduce the project, students will be invited to visit Kids Above All’s Better Life Distribution Center in Des Plaines on Thursday, Feb. 6, where they will get a firsthand view of the impact KAA is making in the Chicagoland community. Students will present their midsemester reports to the KAA team on Thursday, Feb. 27. Final presentations will be presented on Tuesday, April 29.

Established in 1894, Kids Above All’s mission is to build better lives for children and families impacted by poverty violence, and injustice. Kids Above All currently provides early childhood education, safe, supportive housing and trauma-informed counseling services to young people and families in the city of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
