Elgin sex offender charged with possession of child sex abuse materials

An Elgin man — who has been on Illinois’ sex offender registry since 2007 — has been charged with possession and dissemination of child sex abuse materials.

Robert J. Dodero, 46, was arrested Jan. 20. Kane County authorities say he was in possession of images of children and “that the depictions were of children under 13 years of age.”

Dodero was previously convicted of similar charges in Cook County in 2007, according to Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser.

Dodero was listed as “noncompliant” on the state sex offender registry at the time of his arrest.

His next court date is scheduled for Friday in Kane County.
