Naperville garage fire causes $50K in damage

A fire contained to the garage area of a Naperville home left an estimated $50,000 in damage Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Naperville's Emergency Communications Center received a call just before 3:30 p.m. reporting smoke coming from a garage on the 1300 block of E. Bailey Road. At 3:51 p.m., an engine arrived and reported that a two-story home had smoke showing from the garage.

Crews put out the fire within 15 minutes. Two people were home at the time, and firefighters helped both escape, according to a news release.

One patient received medical attention and was taken to a hospital for care, the news release stated.

The cause is currently under investigation. The house was deemed habitable.
