Gorton Center Brings Giordano Dance Chicago back to the North Shore

Back by popular demand, Giordano Dance Chicago returns to the Gorton Center in Lake Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7. For over six decades, Giordano Dance Chicago has been at the forefront of redefining jazz and contemporary dance, captivating audiences around the world with their passion, power and precision.

Celebrating its 62nd season, GDC has become a cultural powerhouse, renowned for its stunning performances and groundbreaking choreography. Their signature style blends elegance and excitement, pushing the boundaries of jazz dance and captivating both longtime dance aficionados and new audiences alike.

“Giordano Dance Chicago is a jewel in our cultural landscape, and we are excited to welcome them back to the North Shore for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening of dance,” Gorton Center Executive Director Amy Wagliardo said. “This performance exemplifies everything Gorton stands for: bringing world-class talent and life-affirming experiences to our community.”

Founded by Gus Giordano, the company has evolved from a small studio in Evanston into an internationally renowned institution under the leadership of Artistic Director Nan Giordano. As the company celebrates over six decades of dance, GDC continues to push the boundaries of the jazz genre, blending traditional technique with innovative choreography. With more than 1,300 performances in over 30 countries, GDC has become synonymous with cutting-edge dance that fuses passion and athleticism.

The company’s unique and highly acclaimed technique, the NGCP (Giordano Technique), has influenced generations of dancers worldwide. Locally, GDC’s commitment to arts education is demonstrated through its Jazz Dance/Science & Health program, which serves under-resourced students in Chicago Public Schools.
