Marmion Academy fundraiser features pancakes, music, and Blues art exhibit
Marmion Academy Music Boosters will hold its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9.
The family event at the school cafeteria, 1000 Butterfield Road in Aurora. It will feature musical performances by students.
In addition to all-you-can-eat pancakes, the breakfast includes sausages, hash browns, toppings and beverages. Admission is a $10 donation or free for children under age 3.
Breakfast patrons are invited to visit the academy's mezzanine art gallery for “Painting the Blues: Portraits of Blues Musicians” by Chicago artist Peter Hagerty from Feb. 3 to March 18.
Internationally known blues musician Downtown Charlie Brown will perform at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Musicians portrayed by Hagerty include Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Koko Taylor, Mavis Staples, Buddy Guy, Little Walter, Hound Dog Taylor, Paul Butterfield and others.
The collection includes collage-paintings, silk screens, digital prints and assemblage techniques.
