Worth the effort
The other day in the grocery store parking lot, a woman was returning her cart. The carts at this particular store are, in my mind, unnecessarily large.
They are tall and wide. Regardless, this woman was determined to secure her cart neatly into the line of carts gathered there at the return station. She had to come in at an angle, ram the cart before her, and push them both into line.
It took three attempts and involved a lot of banging. She succeeded, and I told her, “Great job!”
She, a bit winded but satisfied, said, “Leavin’ things a little better ‘n what I found ‘em.”
