Elgin man pleads guilty to child pornography charge

An Elgin man pleaded guilty Friday to possessing a child pornography video.
Juan Arteaga, 27, of the 1400 block of Blume Drive, was sentenced to two years of sex offender probation and ordered to register as a sex offender. Arteaga cannot have unsupervised contact with anyone under 18 during his probation. Kane County Judge David Kliment accepted the plea.
The prosecutor said that on Feb. 15, 2024, Arteaga possessed a video depicting penetration of a child under the age of 13. He initially faced 10 counts of possession of child pornography videos and eight counts of reproducing or disseminating child pornography.
