Fortune Brand Innovations expansion in Deerfield to add at minimum 400 new full-time jobs
Fortune Brand Innovations will be staying in Deerfield and adding hundreds of jobs as it streamlines and consolidates U.S. operations in a global headquarters to position itself for long-term growth.
The decision was fortified by an incentive offering state income tax credits, officials said announcing the agreement this week.
Fortune Brands has an extensive portfolio of home and security products with familiar brand names including Moen, MasterLock, Perrin & Rowe, Therma-Tru, SentrySafe and Yale residential.
The company employs 128 at an office at 520 Lake-Cook Road and has significant operations in a variety of states.
Several of those states were evaluated but Illinois’ Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program bolstered what will be a “significant investment in capital expenditures” by Fortune Brands, officials say.
“We conducted a thorough, nationwide headquarters search before confirming Deerfield, Illinois as the most strategic location for our new, state-of-the-art campus, which will have capacity for over 1,000 associates by the end of 2027,” said Nicholas Fink, Fortune Brands CEO, in a news release announcing the EDGE agreement.
Fortune will be moving into two existing buildings at 1 Horizon Way, formerly occupied by Horizon Therapeutics. Amgen Inc. acquired Horizon in October 2023 and will be moving to another of the three connected buildings.
Under the terms of the agreement at least 400 new, full-time jobs must be added to the current workforce.
“Fortune Brands Innovations has made a name for itself in Deerfield and the state's EDGE incentive package is supporting the company’s long-term growth in Illinois as it expands its headquarters,” said Kristin Richards, director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, in the release.
In 2024, companies in the EDGE program committed to more than $650 million in investments in communities across the state, according to DCEO.
The Deerfield campus will bring people together “drive innovation,” said Kevin Considine, president and CEO of Lake County Partners, the county’s development arm.
The performance-based EDGE program is an effective incentive, Considine added.
“This expansion shows that premier locations with top-shelf office space can still drive demand,” he said.
