Three Fires Council to host 28th annual Merit Badge University for over 1,200 Scouts
Three Fires Council, Scouting America is scheduled to host its annual Merit Badge University at York High School in Elmhurst on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Merit Badge University is the largest merit badge event in the nation, with more than 1,200 Scouts in attendance. It not only boasts large attendance numbers, but it also brings in youth from all over the country.
Merit Badge University offers Scouts the chance to work on merit badges in interest areas such as STEM, outdoor skills, first aid, citizenship, personal development, and more.
Expert instructors, community leaders, and experienced Scouting volunteers will lead hands-on sessions, providing Scouts with the guidance they need to develop new skills, explore different interests, and further their journey toward rank advancement as well as give teenagers a taste of their future career possibilities.
This event began 28 years ago with less than 100 youth in attendance and has blossomed into what it is today.
In addition to learning opportunities, Merit Badge University also offers an opportunity for Scouts to connect with fellow Scouts from across multiple states, forge new friendships, and experience the full potential of the Scouting program.
“Merit Badge University makes a great impact on students each year,” said Three Fires Council Scout Executive Ron Wentzell. “I love to see more than 1,200 Scouts in one place not just earning merit badges, but learning life skills, meeting new friends, and gaining exposure to new careers and fields that may lead to a lifelong passion. These Scouts will be better prepared for life.”
Hundreds of volunteers are needed to make Merit Badge University a success. Consider joining the team.
