Huntley brush fire burns 18 acres; no injuries reported
Roughly 18 acres burned in brush fire near Church Road and Ridge Lane in Huntley Friday.
Firefighters from the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to the call received just after 12:30 p.m. The fire was spreading north between Ridge Lane and Henning Drive.
Strong southerly winds contributed to the rapid spread of the medium-sized fire, according to a news release from Huntley Battalion Chief Brian Harders.
A request was prompted through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System for additional support due to a lack of fire hydrants within the area. Fire crews from Burlington, Cary, Crystal Lake, Hampshire, Hebron, Marengo, Pingree Grove, Union and Woodstock responded to the alarm.
The fire was declared extinguished within 90 minutes. No injuries or structural damages have been reported at this time.
The fire’s cause is under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District.
