Improved rating could mean lower premiums for Bartlett Fire District residents

The Bartlett Fire Protection District has received an improved Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating of 2, an advancement from its previous rating of 3 in 2018.

This places the district among the top 5% of fire departments in the nation, a distinction shared by only 1,500 departments, officials said.

ISO ratings are a critical factor used by insurance companies to determine property insurance premiums for homeowners and businesses. Ratings are assigned on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the highest level of protection, potentially leading to lower insurance premiums.

The district’s performance surpassed that of many similarly sized departments statewide and nationally, according to officials. District officials attribute the accomplishment to a collaborative effort and extend their gratitude to the village of Bartlett for maintaining a robust water supply system, which includes testing and maintaining nearly 2,500 fire hydrants, as well as DuPage Public Safety Communications for its 911 communications, alarm processing, and training services.
