No injuries in Elgin house fire that causes over $200K in damage

Nobody was hurt during a Monday fire on the 600 block of Ludlow Avenue in Elgin that caused over $200,000 in fire and smoke damage to a single-family home.

Elgin firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 5:10 p.m., working for about an hour to bring the fire under control, rescuing a cat from the basement of the home in the process.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
