Correcting history

As a teacher of government and U.S. History, I need to point out an obvious error in Keith Raffel’s column from Jan. 10. (“Evidence points to court as an enemy of democracy”). He states that in the Bush v. Gore case in 2000, all four justices in the minority were selected by Democrats, however Justice Stevens was selected by President Ford and Justice Souter was appointed by President George HW Bush, both Republicans. Careless errors like this further the political divide in this country, rather than bridge it. Daily Herald readers deserve better.
