Consider, too, why we have homelessness problem

I suppose that tearing down the homeless camp in Elgin and providing decent shelter is a good thing. But I wonder if anyone has thought about why they are there in the first place.

As an original volunteer for the PADS program, I could see first-hand why they are homeless. First, drugs and alcohol abuse is the biggest reason. Then we have untreated mental illness and then, just bad luck.

This has to be fixed and resources made available. I can remember that the police had to bring some homeless to the shelter as they just like being homeless, believe it or not.

I hope that someone will put some effort into solving these problems.
