There are alternatives to sitting in traffic
As reported in the Daily Herald stories, driving to downtown Chicago at an average speed at 14 mph is about the same speed as pedaling your bike around the ‘burbs — or half the speed on an e-bike.
They ask the question, “What can we do?” Transit is a great answer, while multi-modal is a solution of choice. With a bike rack, you can drive halfway, bike a safe route to your destination. Bike on trains, bike on bus, bike share from one Metra route to another.
We have options available to try. Join advocates and contact our elected officials to solve the obstacles we encounter. We do not have to just drive. On trips of three miles or less, get on a bike, make it a family trip, enjoy your ride.
