Homeless man charged with stealing from same Bartlett store three times

A homeless man accused of stealing from the same Bartlett business three times late last year was charged with felony retail theft Thursday, officials said.

David L. Holder, 44, was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor.

According to Bartlett police, Holder took merchandise valued at more than $300 from a business on the 900 block of Route 59 Nov. 8 and fled in a gray Honda Civic after being confronted by store employees.

Holder returned to the same store Nov. 11, police said, and stole more merchandise valued at more than $300. He then returned Dec. 17 and stole items valued at less than $300.

An arrest warrant was issued, but police learned he was in custody in Kane County Thursday. He is scheduled to appear in DuPage County on the retail theft charges Jan. 29.
