St. Charles library hosts program on hospice and palliative care
The St. Charles Public Library is hosting an informational program, “Hospice and Palliative Care for You or Your Loved One” on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Kristin Tosaw, an advanced practice nurse in palliative care, will explain the difference between palliative care and hospice. She will discuss eligibility, and the course of care available.
Hospice care is a type of end-of-life care provided when a person is nearing the end of life, typically with a prognosis of six months or less to live.
Palliative care, on the other hand, is focused on providing relief from the symptoms and suffering associated with serious illnesses, but it is not limited to the end of life.
The program will be at 1 p.m. in the Huntley Community Room of the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. To register, visit scpld.org or call (630) 584-0076.
