Four considered for Kane County board vacancy

Four people are being considered to fill the District 7 vacancy on the Kane County board.

An ad hoc committee will interview Sadie Dixon, Juan Sifuentes, Alex Arroyo and Jeffrey Donelson during a closed-door meeting at 1 p.m. Friday. The names were announced at the end of a committee meeting Tuesday.

The committee is led by North Aurora President Mark Gaffino and includes Aurora Township Democrats Chairman Deb Fisher, Batavia Township precinct committeeman Darnell Gibson, and Kane County board members Michelle Gumz and Myrna Molina, who both represent the Aurora area.

The vacancy was created by the resignation of Dr. Monica Silva in December when she became the county’s coroner.

The district is on the east side of Aurora.

Arroyo is on the East Aurora District 131 school board and is running in April for a seat on the Aurora City Council.

Donelson is also running for a seat on the Aurora council.

The committee will make a recommendation to county board Chairman Corinne Pierog, who will then appoint the new member with the consent of the county board.
