Early morning fire closes Wheeling Burger King
No one was hurt when a fire broke out early Thursday at a Burger King restaurant in Wheeling.
Firefighters were notified of the blaze at 425 W. Dundee Road shortly before 5 a.m. They arrived to find employees standing outside the smoke-filled building, according to the Wheeling Fire Department.
The fire started in the hood system above the grill and spread to the roof, according to the fire department. Firefighters put out the blaze with a hose and a pump can.
The restaurant must remain closed until damage is repaired, authorities said. The fire is under investigation.
Prospect Heights firefighters and Wheeling police assisted on the scene.
