What’s in a name? Maybe a lot of your money

I recently had a problem with a kitchen sink backup. I called a well-known company who came out and tried to rod out the system unsuccessfully and charged over $600 for a few hours service call.

He recommended further service. A supervisor came out and estimated the repair would cost over $10,000 for two men for approximately four hours of work. I called another source that I’ve used in the past for all sorts of handyman and other house repair tasks.

He came out with two other men who proceeded to dig a 5-foot trench, cut out the damaged pipe, replaced the pipe as well as other repairs/materials and completed the work in approximately four hours for a total charge of a little over $500, a $9,500 savings.

Moral of the story, check around before you commit to a high repair cost from a big name company. You may be pleased with both the repair job and your pocket book may thank you.
