Aurora church hosts community dinner and cold-weather care kit assembly

Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May St. in Aurora, will kick off the new year with two Wednesday Night Gathering programs.

Gatherings coordinator Michelle Curiel, Wesley children and family director, said events including a free dinner followed by a family activity will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 15 and 29. The public is invited. Admission and parking are free.

Curiel said, “After dinner on Jan. 15, we will assemble cold-weather care kits to give to folks we meet on the street!”

She asked Wesley members and friends to donate items for the kits. Items requested are winter hats, medicated lip balm, tissue packs, socks, hand warmers, foot warmers, travel-size lotion, protein bars, travel-size deodorant, alcohol-free travel-size hand sanitizer, wet wipes, gloves, Ibuprofen and applesauce packets.

Gatherings are held on first and third Wednesdays during the school year. Bonus Gatherings are held on fifth Wednesdays.
