City council candidates to discuss Naperville’s energy future at Feb. 3 forum

The Naperville Environment and Sustainability Task Force (NEST) invites the public to a city council candidate forum focused on sustainability and environmental issues critical to Naperville’s future.

It will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at First Congregational Church, 25 E. Benton Ave. in Naperville.

Candidates will discuss clean energy, public health, climate change, and the city’s electricity contract, which relies heavily on coal power.

NEST is a group of Naperville residents committed to fostering a more sustainable future through education, advocacy, and collaboration. Recognized as a task force of the city of Naperville, NEST works to engage the community in efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote environmental stewardship.

The forum will include candidate introductions, prepared questions, audience questions, and a lightning round. Residents will have a valuable opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their visions for creating a cleaner, healthier Naperville.

To help with planning, let them know you’ll be attending via www.sustainnaperville.org/city-council-candidate-forum.

The event will be livestreamed at this link, and a recording will be made available afterward.
