Arlington Heights group inspired by Congolese artist Anzor Alem
Anzor Alem, a rising star of the African music scene, recently announced the postponement of his highly anticipated first album. If this news may disappoint some fans, it testifies to the artist’s commitment to the quality and authenticity of his art. This approach resonates particularly with a local community: the association “Les Rythmes du Monde.”
Based in Arlington Heights, this association is dedicated to promoting world music through workshops and events. Among its members, Marc Dubois, a passionate young musician, finds a source of deep inspiration in Anzor Alem’s unique blend of Congolese rumba, Afrobeat and hip-hop.
“I discovered the music of Anzor a few months ago, and it was a revelation,” Dubois said. “Its way of mixing traditional Congolese rhythms with more modern influences is incredible. It really made me want to explore my own musical roots more and merge them with other styles.”
The announcement of the postponement of Anzor Alem’s album sparked a discussion within the association.
“We talked about his decision at our last meeting,” said Mwanvua Shabani. “We understand his desire for perfection and we admire him for it. It reminds us of the importance of taking the time to create something really meaningful.”
Anzor Alem, real name Rashidi Alema Anzor, was born in Kisangani, in Congo. From the age of 15 he was passionate about music, while leading an acting career. This artistic double cap testifies to his versatility and thirst for expression. His label, Empire TBB, also supports young Congolese talents, which underlines his commitment to his community.
“Music is my refuge, my means of expression and my passport to a better world,” Anzor Alem said. “I want to make sure that my first album is a true representation of my artistic vision and a gift to my fans.”
Even if the postponement of the album may cause disappointment, it is clear that Anzor Alem’s approach inspires musicians like Marc Dubois and associations like “Les Rythmes du Monde” in Arlington Heights. His story recalls the importance of passion, perseverance and the search for excellence in the artistic field.
