Lake Zurich named Green Power Community by U.S. EPA

Lake Zurich has been designated a Green Power Community by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Residents, businesses an municipal operations collectively have used 50.5 million kilowatt-hours of green power annually between July 2023 and August 2024, enough to meet about 22% of the electricity use in the entire village, officials said.

The accomplishment is through Lake Zurich’s voluntary Green Electric Community Choice Aggregation program, which gives users a choice to support clean renewable energy development, according to the village.
