How to recycle unwanted holiday lights in Mundelein

If you’ve got broken or unwanted holiday lights, the Mundelein Public Works and Engineering Department can help you recycle them.

Lights can be brought to several spots in town on weekdays through Jan. 31.

The collection points are village hall, 300 Plaza Circle; the public works and engineering facility, 801 Allanson Road, Fire Station No. 1, 1000 N. Midlothian Road; or the police station, 221 N. Lake St.

Bulbs don’t need to be removed from strands, but strands should be removed from bags or boxes.

Lights connected to wreaths or other objects aren’t eligible for recycling. Neither are lawn ornaments or other types of holiday decorations.

People dropping off lights at village hall are limited to 50 feet of light strands.
