New disc golf course open in Round Lake Beach

A new nine-hole disc golf course is open for play at North Shore Park north of Orchard Lane and Hook Drive in Round Lake Beach.

The course spans 16 wooded acres and offers a challenge for beginners to seasoned players. Disc golf is like regular golf except instead of a ball and clubs players use a flying disc or Frisbee thrown from a tee to a basket, which is the hole.

The object is to throw the disc/Frisbee from the tee area to the target “basket” in the fewest number of throws. The course is open from sunrise to sunset.

North Shore Park also is the home of a BMX pump track and skate park and will feature the future Hero Park, an all-inclusive space scheduled to be completed this summer.
