Start efficiency drive with Space Force
The soon to be created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will be tasked to find areas of the U.S. government deemed inefficient or wasteful.
They can start with the U.S. Space Force. This new arm of the U.S. military was created in 2019 under Trump’s watch. It already has over 14,000 military and civilian employees earning over $1.2 billion.
What does it do? It’s difficult to determine. Available information about the force reads like a science fiction novel, with employees called “Guardians,” learning high tech space stuff to protect our satellites and “control” space.
It’s possible Trump just wanted to make a name for himself by doing something previously thought unmanageable, like creating Space Force or allowing the Israeli government to move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
In any case, Space Force, like any newly formed government agency, has quickly ballooned in size with no tangible benefit.
