Distortions made false moral equivalence
There was a recent article picked up by the Daily Herald written by The Associated Press entitled “A baby froze to death overnight in Gaza.”
While this is tragic, the article then proceeds to follow the similar pattern by the mainstream media to equivocate Hamas with Israel by inserting subtle distortions.
The first one is the claim that 45,000 people have been killed in Gaza, lumping together civilians, women, children and “fighters.” They also qualify that the Gaza health ministry, which provides the numbers, does not distinguish between each group. A more accurate qualifier would state that we can’t really trust these numbers because we can’t trust the source.
The second one is the reference to Hamas as a “militant group.” These aren’t militants, they are terrorists.
The terrorist group Hamas could end the fighting by simply surrendering. They are the ones responsible for the tragic death of the baby and thousands more. There is no moral equivalence between a terrorist group that hides behind its people while seeking to destroy Israel and the Israelis that seek peace in a hostile environment.
