Elgin church hosts musical and charity events this January

Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Trail in Elgin, is hosting a variety of events in January. The programs are free and open to the community.

On Sunday, Jan. 5, there will be an organ recital with Michael Waal performing the music for Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany as part of the Great Elgin Pipe Organ Tour, at 4 p.m.

On Monday, Jan. 6, there will be a 7 p.m. service to rededicate the church to the ongoing needs of the refugee and immigrant community. “For the Healing of the Nations” will support the outreach of First Presbyterian Church of Elgin’s El Centro Closet and First Congregational Church of Elgin’s Asylum Fund.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, Michael Waal celebrating the music of the church with an organ recital at 4 p.m. This will be an exploration of Lutheran hymnody from ancient to modern times.
