Marklund Children’s Home receives Seigle Foundation grant

Seigle Foundation is awarding more than $200,000 in housing grants to the following charitable organizations: Marklund Children’s Home, Community Crisis Center, CASA Kane County, Fellowship Housing Corporation, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Prairie State Legal Services, and PADS of Elgin.

Marklund CEO Gil Fonger stated, “Thank you so much for the Seigle Foundation’s generous support. Their commitment helps us continue our mission of ‘making everyday life possible for individuals with profound disabilities.’ Without partners like Seigle Foundation, we could not keep this promise. We are especially grateful for their most recent gift, which will help fund the installation of a nursing call system as part of the renovation and expansion of the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin. This critical addition will enhance the care and safety of our residents, furthering our ability to meet their unique needs and making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.”

Marklund’s Elgin facility, originally known as Little Angels was founded in 1958.

Seigle Foundation is interested in supporting the provision of shelter for people who need it. Work in this area may include (but is not limited to) shelter for people experiencing special needs, homelessness, homeless prevention services, affordable housing, and home ownership for low-income residents.

In addition to housing, Seigle Foundation is focused on the arts, education and food. Nonprofit organizations serving the Elgin and Dundee communities are eligible to apply. For more information see SeigleFoundation.org.
