Jones, Jenkins, Bates miss practice for Bears

The Bears returned to work Wednesday at Halas Hall. After playing on Monday night, the team has a quick turnaround ahead for Sunday’s matchup with the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field.

The Bears held a walkthrough Wednesday to get the team extra rest. So Wednesday’s injury report is an estimate from the training staff.

Left tackle Braxton Jones (concussion) remains sidelined. Jones reported concussion symptoms Sunday morning. He did not play in Monday’s loss to Minnesota. Jones had not previously been on the injury report last week. Rookie Kiran Amegadjie played in place of Jones.

Additionally, defensive tackle Gervon Dexter (knee), left guard Teven Jenkins (calf) and offensive lineman Ryan Bates (concussion) all sat out practice Wednesday.

Defensive end Darrell Taylor (shoulder) and running back Roschon Johnson (concussion) were full participants. Johnson has missed two games since suffering a concussion on Thanksgiving against the Lions.

Getting Johnson back could help in the run game. Starting running back D’Andre Swift has taken on much of the load with Johnson out. The Bears have missed having a one-two punch in the backfield.

Against the Vikings, the Bears used Travis Homer out of the backfield and even lined up receiver DJ Moore in the backfield several times.
