Boys basketball roundup: Fremd, Stevenson among Tuesday’s winners
Fremd (8-1) used a 31-point second quarter to pull away in Lake Villa for a 61-35 victory over Lakes.
Samuel Hirsch led the Vikings with 15 points. Jordan Williams added 12 points, Rafael Pinto 9 points and Ryan Brown 8 points.
Lakes (2-6) was led by Jason Klimas and Ben Newcombe who each scored 8 points.
Stevenson 70, Lockport 63:
Stevenson made the long trip to Lockport on Tuesday night worthwhile.
And even better, this time the Patriots didn’t have to play overtime.
The Patriots went to overtime in their last two games, splitting the decisions. This time, Stevenson (6-3) outbattled the Porters for a 70-63 regulation victory.
Liam Curtin led Stevenson with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting. He also had 6 rebounds.
Aidan Bardic added 12 points and 6 assists, Atticus Richmond had 11 points, 8 rebounds and three steals while Donnie Williams had 11 points.
Maine West 73, Buffalo Grove 72 (OT):
Buffalo Grove (3-6) was led by Alex Sirbu who had 30 points and 17 rebounds.
Marian Central 65, Schaumburg Christian 57:
Marian Central (2-8) broke Schaumburg Christian’s 6-game winning streak.
Finn Pivnicka scored 42 points to lead Marian.
Schaumburg Christian (7-4) was led by Tanish Dunedin’s 15 points. Lucas Bustamante and Elliot Foy each had 13 points while David Saenz added 10 points.
Wilmot (Wis) 45, Grayslake North 38:
Grayslake North (6-4) led at halftime but could not hang on.
