Barrington police warn of scam calls
The Barrington Police Department said it has received multiple reports about scam calls in which individuals falsely claim to be from the police department and try to deceive people into providing personal information or making payments.
Police said the department will never request payment or personal information by phone.
If someone claims to be from the police department, hang up and call the department directly at (847) 304-3300 to confirm.
The department also advises people not to give out personal information like a Social Security number, bank account information or passwords over the phone.
