AMVETS Post 66 hosts Toys for Tots event
Knights of Columbus Regina Council 4837 — Wheeling/Buffalo Grove, in cooperation with the Phillip Carpenter AMVETS Post 66, held their annual Toys for Tots Party at the Post, 700 N. McHenry Road, Wheeling, on Dec. 6.
The event, featuring music, goodies and a trivia contest, was held to thank the many wonderful donors who, over the past few weeks, have dropped off many new, unwrapped toys.
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.
The program was founded in 1947. Since the initial conception of their mission statement, Toys for Tots has expanded their efforts year-round to promote literacy among underprivileged children with their Literacy Program.
The Knights and AMVETS have been proud partner participants and look forward to many more years supporting this program.
